tajnika ISSMGE-a kojim nas obavještava da je nedavno preminuo
Dr. Richard (Dick) Parry, dugogodišnji tajnik ISSMGE-a, od 1981. do 1999. – surađujući s pet predsjednika ISSMGE-a, to su Victor de Mello, Bengt Broms, Nordie Morgenstern, Michele Jamiolkowski i Kenji Ishihara. S velikim iskustvom u projektiranju i konzaltingu, napisao je i dvije knjige: “Engineering the Pyramids” i “Engineering the Ancient World”.

Ovo je prvi izvještaj u nizu ISSMGE-ovog projekta Geo-Engineers Without Borders. Pripremili su ga izvanredna profesorica Evangelia Garini (Technical University of Crete, Greece) i profesor George Gazetas (National Technical University of Athens, Greece) – prema dostupnim izvorima – USGS, novine i slično.
Javlja ISSMGE:
The ISSMGE “Geo-engineers Without Borders” new Committee (GeoWB) launched by President Marc Ballouz and managed by Pierre Delage with the help Daniela Pollak (Board member) aims at proposing to send volunteer geo-engineers from the ISSMGE worldwide network to areas affected by a geo-disaster (including earthquakes, landslides, floods, failure of dykes, dam and tailing dams, collapse of geotechnical structures). Volunteers will prepare a short comprehensive report for national and international authorities (travel expenses paid by the ISSMGE). Particular attention will be given to risk analysis and possible preventive measures.
